Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), a division of Transnet SOC Ltd, is taking another step on its journey to digitalise South Africa’s ports operations into ‘SMART People’s Ports’ through a fully integrated e-commerce platform expected to go live in April 2017.
The new Order to Cash initiative will replace TNPA’s nine year old PortsOnline system which customers previously used for online submission of cargo documentation.

Existing and potential suppliers were invited by Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) to day-long procurement Imbizo’s from Monday 29 August – Wednesday 31 August 2016 in the towns of uMthatha, the Golf Club in East London and at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth respectively. The series of roadshows is in line with all TPT’s efforts to engage with and create opportunities for small, medium and large enterprises in South Africa – with particular emphasis on Black Women Owned, Black Youth Owned and People with Disabilities Owned Businesses; Co-Operatives, Qualifying Small Entities and Exempt Micro Enterprises.

Africa’s first ever dredging simulator was launched on friday, 2 September 2016 in the port city of Durban, South Africa – another positive spin-off of ongoing collaboration between Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), the Transnet Maritime School of Excellence (MSoE), Netherlands based Royal IHC and its world-renowned Training Institute.

Transnet National Ports Authority’s (TNPA) inaugural Port of Durban Customer Awards acknowledged outstanding terminal operators for their role in the success of South Africa’s busiest commercial seaport.

Licenced operators were adjudicated in the categories of Best Safety Performer, SHE Compliance, Transformation, Best Performing Terminal Operator, Best Performing Ship Repairer, as well as Best Performing Shipping Line and Most Improved Shipping Lines.
