Following the departure of Mr Emmanuel Ntshangase as the Chairperson of eThekwini Maritime Cluster (EMC) and Mr Sandile Khoza stepping in as the new chair, new board members were appointed at the 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was held at the Royal Hotel, in Durban on Friday.

Mr. Sean Ross and Captain Nkululeko Makhaye were welcomed with warm hands as the new board members in a meeting that was attended by industry stakeholders, partners, and attendees.

What was a notable outcome at the AGM was that the Cluster has achieved a clean unqualified audit for the 16th consecutive year.

Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee on behalf of the eThekwini Municipality, Councillor Thembo Ntuli delivered a message of support where he highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing Durban’s maritime economy.

“As the Africa’s leading coastal and a Port city, the eThekwini Municipality would like to affirm its strong support for the programmes and initiatives led by the EMC in driving our growth, transformation and sustainability with our maritime sector. As the chairperson of Economic Development and Planning Committee in eThekwini Municipality, these programmes, are particularly close to my heart as it also forms part of our mandate to support initiatives that stimulate economic growth, unlock investments opportunities, and create sustainable employment for our people,” said Ntuli.
