23 February 2024: President Ramaphosa met with the NPC of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The KZN Growth Coalition is a partner in this effort. A government delegation led by Ministers Gordhan, Cele, Mchunu, Ramokgopa, and Zikalala backed the President. The goal of the interaction was to give the business community a chance to discuss Durban’s most important problems with the government. May 2022 marked the last Presidential Engagement.

The President and the Durban business community had the chance to review the actions taken to boost the province’s economy and deal with the present infrastructure, water, and electrical problems during this morning’s meeting.

During the meeting, the business community was briefed by the President and the Ministers on the number of ongoing projects aimed at supporting eThekwini and the province through the various interventions spearheaded by the National Government.

The Presidential eThekwini working group, which will be composed of Ministers in the impacted portfolios and will collaborate with the metro and business, was established by President Ramaphosa in order to expedite the prompt settlement of issues affecting the eThekwini metro. Regular progress reports from the working group will be given to the President.
